ML Nichols offers three interactive workshops for parents.

How to Navigate Schools so Your Kids Thrive…& You Survive

The Parent Backpack flagship 90-minute workshop.

This program  is bursting with tips and strategies to help moms and dads get involved in their children’s education in productive ways. Parents come away knowing what to expect from kindergarten through grade 5, how to build bridges with schools and communicate effectively with teachers, how to connect to a child’s learning in meaningful ways, the secrets to raising a reader, how to help kids navigate social situations, what to do when a child needs more support, how to guide homework without meltdowns, why praising effort over outcome is meaningful and more.

Making the Kindergarten Leap

For families transitioning into the world of kindergarten and elementary school, this 90-minute program shows parents why their role is so important and how to support their soon-to-be or new kindergartener. Parents come away understanding how and why kids learn to read, why play is so important to their day, how to communicate with teachers in productive ways, how to recognize and manage social conflicts, and what to say and do to make sure their child thrives in school and beyond. This workshop is well suited for Kindergarten Transition programs in the spring or fall.

Navigating Homework & Projects so the Kids Thrive…and You Survive

This 90-minute workshop gives parents the perspective and tools they need to minimize homework meltdowns.  More than 50% of families struggle with homework and study skills and this stresses everyone out. Parents will learn how to set the foundation for fewer homework battles, 10 tips that minimize homework meltdowns,  how to guide your child on basic studying skills, and what to do to make sure kids get those projects done on time – and even have fun doing them. Parents also learn how to become productive communicators with teachers and coach their kids to become successful advocates for themselves.
